Fresh off a nifty 5-1 week of picking, I should be feeling smug. And I did feel smug, for 24 hours. But now, it’s a new week, and it’s filled with new peril.

The only thing I’m sure of is that when Notre Dame travels to Michigan State, the game won’t end in a 10-10 tie. If I had to pick that game, I’d be inclined to take the points. Except that I would also be inclined to say Notre Dame is good enough to cover, and I have no idea what Michigan State is. So I’m going to just sit back and enjoy what ought to be a Desperation Bowl.

But I will weigh in on some other Big Ten games as conference play begins in earnest. And Iowa City and West Lafayette.

Michigan minus-10 at Purdue

Rutgers plus-13 at Nebraska

Bowling Green plus-10 at Middle Tennessee
