Were it not for the Urban Meyer dog and pony show, the Buckeyes would almost certainly be higher, probably in the Top 10.

Here’s why.  Despite his shortcomings as a human being, Myer knows how to make x’s and o’s work and he has talent to do it in Columbus. Yes, he lost J.T. Barrett. But he has Dwayne Haskins, who made some noise against Michigan a year ago and he as another potential starter in Tate Martell. And he has a RB JK Dobbins who will get some Heisman votes this year, as well as the bulk of his offensive line returning.

Defensively, he has DE Nick Bosa, who looks a lot like his older brother Joey and is playing like him.

The schedule works in the Buckeyes favor. Michigan is at home, no Wisconsin.  Road games at Penn State and Michigan State will be the difference.

Again, in a quiet world, the Buckeyes would be contendas.  But we don’t like the karma.
